Coin Trading Activity Mats for Math Centers for practice exchanging pennies for nickels and dimes, and nickels for dimes and quarters.
Students take turns rolling the dice and being the banker as they exchange coins in small groups or with a partner.
A “key” showing a picture of the coins, their worth, and their name is shown on each printable mat to help strengthen students’ coin recognition skills.
For this activity, you can use real coins and a dice or you can use the printable dice & coins included.
How To Use:
- First, students roll the dice, count out the coins, and place them on the chart.
- Once the penny chart is filled in, students start exchanging coins. Multiple mats are included for students to exchange different combinations of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Extra pennies go in “Extra Pennies’ square.
- When students finish working with one mat, they can switch it out for another one and practice exchanging coins with different values!
